This month’s Aistear theme is ‘Christmas’. The children have been working as Santa’s Elves designing and making toys from junk art in the ‘Elve’s Workshop’ in the Home Corner.
In the Construction Corner the children built a sleigh and took on the roles of Santa, Mrs.Claus, the reindeer and the elves. They really loved this activity! They also built the stable and played the different parts in the Nativity story.
In Small World they constructed Santa’s sleigh from Mobilo and the children made playdough Christmas models.
The children have been doing lots of art this month. They have been busy making snow globes and snowmen from a selection of fibre and fabric. They also made Christmas tree decorations, a nativity scene and Christmas puddings from clay. The children built a Christmas tree made completely from recycled materials which was short-listed in the ‘Airfield Christmas Tree Competition’ and displayed to visitors on the farm.
This month’s story focus is ‘Stickman’ by Julia Donaldson.
