On 4th June, the PTA Committee organized a fun day for the whole school. This was Hawaiian themed and everyone really got into the spirit of things and there were colourful shirts, grass skirts, and lei garlands as far as the eye could see. It was a beautiful day and the children had a wonderful time limbo and hula dancing and eating hot dogs. There was a real festival atmosphere to the day. Thanks to the PTA Committee for all its hard work and creativity.
Also on 4th June, as part of World Oceans Day, 5th Class went to Shankill Beach to do a clean-up. They did an amazing job and plenty of rubbish bags were filled. It certainly gave the children an insight into how easily litter builds up and the potential damage it can do to the seas and sealife.
As we are unable to hold our annual End of Term Service, Mrs Crammond and 6th Class have put together a fantastic video full of memories, aspirations and prayers. This was kindly filmed by Paul Barron and the link will be sent to families before the end of term.
The Junior Classes in the school are having a Fun Day on Friday 11th with outside co-ordinators coming into the classes. This promises to be a very entertaining and exciting day.
The week commencing 14th June sees our Active Week with plenty of activities planned for the classes. We will be holding Senior and Junior Sports Days and these will also be filmed for families by Paul as unfortunately we cannot have parents or family members in to spectate. Cups will be presented to those pupils who have both excelled in their respective sports and have also proven to be helpful and encouraging to their classmates.
The Senior Classes will have Science Workshops on 16th June also which should be enlightening and informative.
Our Talent Show, held at the end of May, raised over €2,000 for Church Funds which is an amazing figure – thanks to everyone who contributed.
